How well can a Court Appoined Lawyer Help me?

Ok so i am a 18 year old, just started college, and I have no past criminal record what so ever. I previously was arrested and terminated from Target for embezzlement of $234.65 (4 blue-ray box-sets). I have paid the money back and i have a receipt and a letter signed by two Target managers saying i paid them back. but will that keep me from receiving any type of jail time or fines. i have never done any kind of theft before, this was just a “adult making a teenage mistake”. Yes i did the crime so yes ill do the time, but i am worried about not being there for my mother and little brother since my father is currently overseas. so i am trying to avoid jail time at all causes. How well can a court appointed lawyer help me and how much better can a Hired lawyer help me.

I would like to point out that this is also in the State of Virginia. so $200+ considers it a Felony.
Yes. i have to go to court on friday Oct 2nd

I think a court appointed attorney would at least be able to get you probation or deferred adjudication of some kind since this is your first offense. If I were you, I’d settle for nothing less. I doubt if you’ll go to jail for it….

Welcome to the impact of DWI / DUI in Virginia!

One of the first things that hits you after the alcohol in the blood decreased is that your license is suspended in May for a year if you are found guilty under the strict DUI / DWI laws of Virginia.

However, you free to ask the court for a restricted license, but the granting of such is at the discretion of the presiding judge.

So what is driver's license restricted?

This type of license allows you to move in a limited way, rather than to end to stop driving your car.

For example, with a limited license, you can commute to and from work and get around during working hours (if the Travel is work-related and you have a note from your boss or some other confirmation of the goal (exactly what you want to ask your boss for that, no?)).

With a limit Virginia driver's license, you are also able to drive to / from the Virginia Alcohol Safety Action Program and the court ordered other activities of probation.

A limited license allows you to go to school, medical care and for transporting your child to / from the same sort of thing.

If you are convicted of DWI / DUI with alcohol concentration in blood, 15 or more then your restricted license will be subject to ignition interlock system being installed in your car.

This system saves automatically BAC driver with a breath analyzer whenever the car is started. The driver also blow the analyzer breath every 5 to 20 minutes (more fun, right?)

With the holidays approaching, more police and more under the law will be on the roads trying to bust drunk drivers in Prince William County, Manassas, Warrenton, Culpeper and Fauquier County, Virginia.

In fact, roadblocks are already in preparation, and other tactics to find and apprehend people from drinking and driving. (The statistics show that DWI / DUI arrests are at their highest levels this year in Virginia during the season of holiday receptions, not surprisingly, no?)

Remember all those penalties, costs and drawbacks (Incidentally, I have not even mentioned the cost of a good Virginia DWI / DUI attorney or exorbitant insurance premiums you pay) can be avoided simply by calling a taxi or car service, using the system driver designated or crashing on your couch friend for the night.
