jail records in nj
MY husband wants to be a NJ Police officer, but he has a record from when he was young&dumb, what should he do?

his dad was a cop for 30 years, his uncle is and his brother in law are both cops. He always wanted to be one. he is now 30 yr old.. and he was a dumb kid and when he was 19 got a Burglary charge (no jail) for being dumb and robbing nickles and dimes out of poeple cars…Its dumb..he was dumb but it was so long ago and he is different person. Can he have it expunged…if so how much does something like that cost?
What are the requirements to become a police officer. college?
some links of more info would be helpful, thank you

He can go see a lawyer and attempt to get his record exponged, as if it never happened. That should be his first act, after talking to a police recruiter, if the charge would keep him from becoming a cop.
