The Maryland State Commission on Indian Affairs has recently recommended banning Indian names…?

Warriors, Braves, etc. as logos and mascots for schools and athletic teams because they perpetuate “racial stereotypes, but based on the historical record, is it a good idea?

i have no idea how to answer that!

take for example the washington redskins. do you think a team called the new york blackies would be acceptable? how about the houston honkies? the detroit towelheads? these are offensive names. warriors, braves, things of that nature i don’t find as offensive. these are names of proud warriors. they are making it that broad to try and cover the bases. i still can’t believe that the redskins is still the team name though. they changed the name of their nba franchise from the bullets to the wizards because it promoted violence. i just don’t get it.
