It depends. Now, you want to work with kids. THAT is one area where
potential employees (even that of a counselor) gets screened/background check. So, yes it would get in the way. I would suggest, you get a job and create a work history along with work references. Future employers will do what you make them feel safe doing?? How bad is this criminal history? If its just a dui ETC, don’t sweat it.
